Early Build of GTA: Vice City Leaks Online

An early version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has leaked online, giving fans a cool look at how the game appeared before its official release. First shared by GTA content creator (Vadim M.), this leaked build—thought to be a PS2 version from October 2, 2002—shows clear differences in (car and character models), some music tracks and even cutscene animations.

Although it’s not confirmed, some leakers think this version might have been made for GameSpot, just a month before Vice City’s full launch. The discovery has created excitement among long-time fans, who continue to analyze (every detail) of Rockstar’s classic open-world game. However, many are curious about how the game evolved over time. This early build offers a unique perspective, but it also raises questions about what could have been different.

A Look Back at Vice City’s Legacy

First released in 2002, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is one of Rockstar’s most loved games, celebrated for its neon-soaked 1980s vibe, engaging story and large open world. Over 20 years later, the game still has a loyal fanbase that is eager to discover new details about its creation.

This recent leak is just the latest incident in a long series of Rockstar-related breaches. Although early versions of older games sometimes emerge, none have been as impactful as the notorious GTA 6 leak in 2023, which led to hours of unfinished gameplay footage being made public and the arrest of a hacker. However, this ongoing interest in the franchise shows how much it means to players.

Vice City’s Connection to GTA 6

With Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, the excitement surrounding Vice City is stronger than ever (this is clear). Long rumored to return to the Miami-inspired setting, leaks have confirmed that GTA 6 will, in fact, revisit Vice City—however, it will be part of a much larger map, centered around Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida.

Although the anticipation is growing, Rockstar has yet to announce an official release date for GTA 6. Reports suggest it will launch sometime in late 2025, but until then, this newly uncovered build of Vice City serves as a nostalgic and intriguing look at the past of one of gaming’s most iconic titles.
