In addition to a Nintendo Direct, Sony held a special Sept. 2023 State of Play. This event mostly showcased third party titles, though there were some big reveals with things like a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer.

Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways DLC
Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways releases Sept. 21 with a free update that adds Ada Wong and Albert Wesker to Mercenaries. Sometime this Winter VR mode will be added for free.
Separate Ways tells the story of Ada Wong and her parallel journey through the events of Resident Evil 4, filling in unanswered questions from the main story. The full story will be revealed as you view both sides of events from both Ada and Leon’s viewpoints.

Before Leon S. Kennedy had even set foot in that cursed village, she was there. Her mission? The retrieval of the cult’s darkest secret—the Amber.
Now Ada must deal with an unknown threat that is devouring her from within, an accomplice with a dark past and ulterior motives, and a chance reunion with the man she least expected—Leon S. Kennedy.
Why did she accept this mission? And what path will she make for herself in the shadow of Leon’s investigation into the abduction of the president’s daughter?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Expanded Marvel’s New York Trailer
In the video above, Creative Director Bryan Intihar provides a deep dive into our expanded Marvel’s New York, including the ways we’ve evolved the game since we last masked up and played as our Spider-Men. New locations, updated exploration, exhilarating traversal, near-instant switching between heroes, a rogue’s gallery of villains, new abilities and gadgets, and brand-new Suit Styles are just some of the ways we’re upping the game this time around.
So, what’s new?
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re nearly doubling the size of Marvel’s New York. Expanding beyond the East River, you’ll swing and soar over iconic landmarks across Queens and Brooklyn – complete with story missions, side quests, and city activities! This expansion also means even faster traversal options such as the Web Wings, which can be combined with traditional web swinging to move at exhilarating speeds.
Players will also be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the open world, near-instantly thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5. Both Spider Heroes are important characters to the grand story we’re telling in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and each will have their own separate side stories to uncover throughout the city. Help students at Brooklyn Visions as Miles Morales or accept new requests for aid as Peter Parker via the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app – you can even choose to tackle certain activities as either Spider-Man!
Kraven the Hunter and the monstrous Venom join our roster of villains and will strain our heroes, their relationships, and the place they call home. However, they’re not the only two villains causing trouble in the city. We won’t spoil it for you – but our Spideys will need to, ahem, #BeGreaterTogether, to stop them using many new skills, gadgets, and abilities!
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’ve layered on a new set of abilities and skills for our heroes: Pete’s new Symbiote powers and Spider-Arms are aggressive and relentless; meanwhile, Miles brings an electrifying and thunderous quality to his bioelectric venom power, as well as Evolved venom abilities. Mix, match, and deploy these abilities with ease using a streamlined control scheme and combo them in fights in all-new Spidey style!
Speaking of style, let’s talk suits! Featuring 65 suits, which include new original designs and fan favorites from films and comics, players will have an expansive wardrobe of costumes to equip in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re also delighted to announce Suit Styles, an all-new feature that unlocks alternate color shaders for some suits, which provide over 200 ways for you to outfit your Spider-hero!

Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Announced
This is the first DLC in the Tales of series that is a direct continuation of the main story in this scale. We will discuss what players can expect from the storyline and why we made the decision to create it.

In this title, you can experience a new story and adventure set in the world after the union of two worlds. You can enjoy the story of a new encounter with a girl named Nazamil and experience the reunion of Alphen and his parties to confront the fierce destiny she has followed.
The new character Nazamil is a girl of both Dahnan and Renan blood and is the daughter of a Lord who stood in the way of the player in the main story of Arise (we’ll keep it a secret which Lord’s child she is until you play). We hope you will speculate and discuss the details you see in the trailer and wonder whether her peculiarity will be accepted by people in the new united world, or whether she will suffer a harsh fate.
The new storyline is enormous, and I spent more than 20 hours immersed in this new narrative experience during the test play, taking my time to re-explore the new world that has been merged into one. Our goal with this title, and one thing we were sure of during the test play – is that for players, this new experience would be similar the feeling you get when you watch a movie and it turns out to be a good one.
Since the release of Arise, we have received many requests from people who have enjoyed the main story for a continuation of the story and the development team has had in-depth discussions and deliberations on what kind of significance and appeal would be necessary if we were to seriously go beyond the original story. It was also a way for us to reflect on what Arise was for us.
Now, let’s go beyond the dawn of time. We are looking forward to this opportunity to join more people in the world of Tales of Arise once again on November 9.

Ghostrunner 2 – Demo Trailer
Today during the PlayStation State of Play, 505 Games and One More Level stealth-dropped a demo of Ghostrunner 2, available today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store ahead of the game’s launch on Oct. 26. Players who pre-order the Brutal Edition can play on Oct. 24 with up to 48-hours of early access.
