Games to Look Forward to October 2022

As we enter the holiday season, there is always a wide variety of new and interesting games to discover. This can make it hard, especially given September gave us Splatoon 3, two major Square Enix releases and more. Yet, with so much to already play, Oct. 2022 does not relent with a couple insane releases itself.

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3 is finally releasing and it’s looking to be one of the years strongest titles. While we’ve only gotten a taste, the previous titles were fantastic, with the new one seemingly building on it in the best way. While time will tell, it’s easily one of the months most exciting titles.

Gotham Knights

Easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, Gotham Knights tries the impossible by making a Batman game without the iconic hero. Given their previous efforts this could be a real winner, though it will ultimately come down to how much charm the Bat family brings to the table.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

Following the success of A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem looks to be a massive upgrade. Not only does it feel like this is a labor of love, the next adventure of the pair looks to take the adventure to the next emotional level.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force

Star Ocean is back with Star Ocean: The Divine Force. With lessons learned and plenty of time to really make the most of this new entry, it’s in a great position to really deliver one of the most exciting releases this year.

Resident Evil VIII DLC, Gold and Re:Verse

The Winters saga concludes with Resident Evil VIII Shadows of Rose DLC. Along with that final entry in the saga, players get a wide variety of other exciting Resident Evil VIII goodies, like new characters in Mercenaries and we finally see the release of Resident Evil Re:Verse. This is another perfect title for Halloween or just to get your survival horror fix.

New Tales from the Borderlands

The original Tales from the Borderlands proved better than anyone could expect. With the new one having massive shoes to fill, at a time when the franchise is not as beloved as the past, it looks like New Tales from the Borderlands just might deliver on another classic.

Scorn

The few times we’ve seen Scorn has suggested it could really be a major hit. Not only does it look great, has plenty of horror and is a unique concept, the release date was actually moved forward, making it a slam dunk for Halloween.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

The unlikely pair is back in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Not only is this an opportunity to really build on the franchise, it looks to make a number of improvements from lessons in the past. This, along with the charm both franchises bring, should make for a solid choice this month.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds

Turning a bunch of horses into a fighting game sounds like a concept that just shouldn’t work. Yet, Steam players have already shown that it’s more than a novelty and it hitting consoles should add a bunch more to the herd.

Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal finally makes a splash on PlayStation 5 and PC. Fans are overjoyed to see what the beloved sequel brings and get a taste of what is to come when Persona 3 and Persona 4 release sometime next year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Normally we don’t see too much hype for Call of Duty titles, but early impressions make it seem like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is something good. Given the previous revamp was fantastic, along with the original Modern Warfare 2 being viewed as a classic, it has a lot going for it and it will be exciting to see how it all shakes out.

No More Heroes III

Earlier this year we got to check out No More Heroes III and it really builds off the excitement and craziness of the previous titles. It will be exciting to see how more powerful platforms bring out the carnage and wackiness of this fantastic continuation of the No More Heroes series.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Uncharted finally comes to PC with Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. While it is not the full adventure, the conclusion is still a great place for existing fans to experience the climatic ending in its full glory.

Overwatch 2 Early Access

It would be fair to say Overwatch 2 is currently viewed as a divisive title. Building on the base of the original, there are concerns of how much of an upgrade it is and some questionable choices that come from seemingly the right places. Still, it’s going to be a title worth checking out, given the new heroes and just to see what the new experience is like. Who knows, it could be the next title to start off in a rough place before turning into a new fan favorite.

NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata finally releases on Nintendo Switch, giving a new group of players a chance to experience one of the more notable fan favorites in recent memory. The unusual nature, countless endings and plenty to see and explore makes it a solid choice. Giving players the ability to enjoy it on the go only furthers the experience, making it more accessible to anyone who put it off in the past.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers

Recently we’ve seen some really good Dragon Ball games and Dragon Ball: The Breakers is one of the more interesting takes. Building off of experiences like Dead by Daylight, Evil Dead the Game and Friday the 13th, we have a new asymmetrical action game where normal citizens attempt to hold their own against the greatest Dragon Ball universe’s villains.

Triangle Strategy

Triangle Strategy is another big hitter moves from Switch to other platforms. It was a very traditional RPG that builds off of the same foundation that players have loved in the past. In addition to that, the narrative will keep players invested, making for a solid pick.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Expansion Pass Wave 2

Fans of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will have a new expansion to experience. With a new story, items and things to discover, fans will probably fall in love with the franchise yet again in this expansion.

Given the stacked month we no doubt missed some gem, so if there is anything you think deserves a highlight, please comment below.
