For years players have asked Sony to release a service similar to Microsoft’s extremely successful and celebrated Game Pass, which according to sources close to Jason Schreier, one is in the works.
According to his Bloomberg article, Schreier has heard rumors of Sony working on a new service referred to as “Spartacus.” Essentially, the service will combine their current PlayStation Plus with PlayStation Now subscriptions into a new tier, similar to how there is Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
In a follow up tweet, Schreier noted the service likely won’t include day one exclusives like Microsoft is doing, but would include stronger offerings than currently available, plus the possible inclusion of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Portable titles.
With the targeted release being spring 2022, we will likely hear more about it in the coming months.
