The spooky event, The Haunting, has returned to the world of Call of Duty just in time for Halloween. The limited-time event begins today, October 19th, and will span both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, offering up challenge-based goodies and all-new premium Store bundles.
In regards to the premium, Store-bound content, two new operators are heading to Verdansk (or any of Black Ops Cold War‘s maps) to frighten your foes. Scream‘s iconic Ghostface and Frank the Rabbit from the cult classic Donnie Darko will both bring their murderous tendencies to a new audience. The latter of the two will not be available for purchase until later in the event, specifically October 24th.
As expected, the Halloween theme is covering various modes across the two games, even bringing fresh modes into the mix. Warzone will see the introduction of Ghosts of Verdansk, a successor to Zombie Royale, and Life After Death, a mode in which death turns operators into ghosts instead of Gulag prisoners.
Black Ops Cold War will welcome a Halloween-themed Nuketown map alongside new variants to Deathmatch and Prop Hunt. Even the large-scale Outbreak Zombies mode will be infected by The Haunting. Requiem agents will be tasked with surviving for 10 minutes in a single region with increasingly difficult enemies appearing every two minutes. Elite squads will want to seek out Scare Packages for help (or maybe they will be a hindrance…).
There are nine event challenges contained within each game. Completion of either the Warzone or Black Ops Cold War set will award the new LAPA SMG. The high-damage, slow firing submachine gun is said to work well at greater distances than the weapon category would typically engage in. With a variety of attachments on offer, players are encouraged to build the SMG in new, exciting ways to shake up the meta.
There are many more details to pore over in regards to The Haunting event, which you can be found here. The mode will conclude on November 2nd, mere days before the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard.
