The Ascent is brimming with loot, as you would expect from an RPG. The indentured servant to which the player is bound will wield a wide array of weapons over the course of the game. The destructive weaponry on offer packs more than just a punch, they pack a personality, too.

There’s a distinct difference in the feel of a ballistic assault rifle and an energy assault rifle. Not only does one fire standard ammunition and the other sprays lasers, but the two firearms literally hit differently depending on the weakness of their target. And the brandished weapons can stand out even further beyond their practical use.

Weapons can be modified with skins to bring a bit of extra style to the player’s arsenal. Weapon skins are found as loot drops; so be sure to lay waste to all enemies, break open every box, and so on. Once obtained, you may be left wondering how the sleek new design is applied to your loadout. Worry not, we have you covered.

How to Apply Weapon Skins in The Ascent

Applying weapon skins in The Ascent can be done at one of two places. The first option is to visit the Gunsmith, designated by their hammer icon on the map. Interact with the vendor and you will find the Weapon Skin option. Apply any of your collected skins here.

The other route involves seeing the Grafter, a different vendor. The location of this NPC is marked by a DNA icon. Enter the Grafter’s shop, interact with them, and select Go in for Surgery. Then go to the Style category and, once again, you will find the Weapon Skin option.

There you have it. Now you can spruce up your weaponry before heading back out into the unforgiving arcology.

For a quicker way to navigate Veles’ arcology, be sure to read our guide on how to fast travel.
