The upcoming Forza Horizon 6 has a whole new gameplay video showcasing the extremely impressive graphical prowess of the latest entry in the premier arcade racing franchise in the world right now, and while the game has succeeded in bringing the exotic landscapes of Japan to life in unmatched visual fidelity, there’s also an awkward sense of emptiness when it comes to the city streets as the number of cars are exceptionally few and far between.
Check out the newly released gameplay footage of Forza Horizon 6 which is definitely a feast for the senses:
First things first, which is the visuals and it’s pretty clear that this is definitely one the best looking titles of this year and clearly the best looking racer ever. Surely taken from a high-end PC with full RT glory, the gameplay video of Forza Horizon 6 is a testament to how far videogames have come in terms of depicting sheer visual realism and the fact that we are indeed in the era of photorealism in videogames. And while Need for Speed 2015 may still look better strictly during the night times, when it comes to daytimes, there’s nothing out there that can beat Horizon 6, at least right now.
However, things get a bit awkward when we enter the city streets of Japan where there’s only a tiny handful of vehicles and most of the roads are suspiciously empty, almost like a ghost city. And this can easily take you out of the uncanny valley as the shockingly low number of cars really sticks out throughout the entire video, whether you’re speeding across the outskirts or driving in the inter-city highways.
Even older titles like Need for Speed: Heat and Unbound give you a feeling of aliveness in their virtual cities that makes everything feel more immersive which is strangely absent in Forza Horizon 6, at least judging by this gameplay video. Hopefully the traffic gets more dense and realistic when the game finally arrives.
The Standard Edition of Forza Horizon 6 will cost $69.99 while the more expensive Premium Edition will include the game’s first two expansions, the game Car Pass, two “Car Packs”, a “VIP Membership”, and a Welcome Pack plus four days of early access period. Also, everyone who pre-orders Forza Horizon 6 will get a “Pre-Tuned Ferrari J50” which will definitely make the first few hours of the game much easier.
Forza Horizon 6 is speeding it’s way to the PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 19th and is expected to launch on the Playstation 5 later this year.
