One of the defining traits of Ubisoft’s long running Assassin’s Creed franchise is their sheer technical richness and graphical prowess, from the first Assassin’s Creed title that came out nearly 2 decades ago to last year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the series has always pushed the boundaries of visual fidelity beyond it’s times. But perhaps one of the best examples of the series being an unrelenting graphical powerhouse is Assassin’s Creed Unity, a game that came out over a decade ago and still manages to not only go toe-to-toe with some of the best looking games available right now, but straight up beats the majority of them in terms of photorealism and art direction.
And if you own the current gen consoles namely the PS5 or the Xbox Series X|S, Assassin’s Creed Unity is confirmed to feel even better as the game is set to receive a 60 FPS patch on those systems today.
“We know some of you have been waiting for it for a long time, so get ready to re‑experience 18th-century Paris and Arno’s fancy parkour moves with more smoothness on consoles! And for our Xbox players out there, we’ve got a little treat, as multiple Assassin’s Creed games will be playable for free for a limited time for Xbox Free Play Days, from April 2nd to 6th! Perfect time to try Unity in that 60 FPS beauty,” the devs wrote.
However, the increased fluidity and smoothness won’t still be enough to elevate the overall gameplay experience as Assassin’s Creed Unity still remains one of the most bug-filled titles to have come out of the franchise, to the point that it can get pretty much broken in many areas. From a personal perspective, the game breaking bugs and glitches of Unity will surely continue to mar the experience and it would’ve been really great if Ubisoft had finally done something to fix all of that for good.
