Arrowhead Game Studios has rolled out a major update for Helldivers 2. This update changes the tactical landscape by making stealth a real option for the first time. It arrives with the Redacted Regiment Warbond, which brings a range of suppressed weapons and special missions that encourage players to stay hidden instead of relying on sheer firepower.
The main focus of this update is a complete overhaul of how sound and detection work within Helldivers 2‘s chaotic settings. Suppressed weapons now have a 50% reduction in noise radius. This allows players to eliminate targets without immediately alarming all nearby patrols. In addition, the detection range for several high-threat units—like the Automaton Devastators and Terminid Chargers—has been cut down when they are fired upon but not directly hit. These changes respond to a long-standing request from the community to make the various “stealth” capes and light armor sets feel more effective in high-level play.
To support these gameplay adjustments, the Redacted Regiment Warbond offers the tools needed for covert operations. The R-72 Censor precision rifle and the AR-59 Suppressor assault rifle stand out in the new arsenal. Both weapons come with built-in suppressors that take full advantage of the new detection system. For those who want a more explosive approach, the new B/MD C4 Pack includes six remote-detonated charges. This allows teams to set traps or destroy objectives safely before fading away into the shadows.
The most exciting addition is the new Commando Missions. These specialized missions drop players deep behind enemy lines without the usual air support. Players must call for reinforcements in advance, creating a high-stakes environment where every bullet and movement counts. This change pays homage to tactical espionage classics, challenging players to rethink their strategies in Arrowhead’s fast-paced combat. While the studio has hinted that many Helldivers will die in future updates, this latest patch gives them a better chance of sneaking through undetected.
