In a massively disappointing news for many players all around the world, the upcoming GTA 6 just got delayed once more and is currently set for a new release date of November 19, 2026 which is more than a year from now. This marks the second delay of Rockstar’s Open World behemoth title, however, publisher Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick feels “Highly Confident” that GTA 6 won’t get delayed again.
Zelnick told IGN that the latest delay is solely for providing Rockstar enough time to polish GTA 6 to a level of quality that gamers expect and rightfully deserve, especially after so many additional periods of time.
“We wanted to give Rockstar the appropriate amount of time to polish the title and make sure it can be the very best it can be,” he stated.
Zelnick also said that he feels confident on GTA 6’s new release date:
“I’m highly confident,” he replied “And at the same time, there have been limited circumstances where more time was required to polish a title and make sure that it was spectacular and that time has been well-spent, when our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen. That said, that said, I’m highly confident on the new date.”
There is a brighter side to this delay, though cause as videogames get more technologically advanced and therefore more computationally complex, the need to polish the overall experience for making sure that the game delivers a smooth and enjoyable experience on all platforms at launch is significantly higher. As we’ve seen from Cyberpunk 2077 which was one of the biggest Open World titles in recent times, it took well over a year for the game to become a fully stable and playable experience, something which GTA 6, a far bigger Open World title just can’t afford to repeat.
But due to this latest delay, we can at least be sure that when it eventually comes out, GTA 6 will deliver in spades what it promises and what fans expect from a title of it’s caliber. Meanwhile, here’s hoping Rockstar gives us something to ease off the wait like a brand new trailer with strong focus on gameplay, more exciting news or perhaps a remastered version of GTA 4 or Red Dead Redemption 2.
