In the upcoming Battlefield 6, players will be part of a squad for almost the entirety of the single player campaign with each team members belonging to a different class, similar to it’s multiplayer experience. Players will be able to issue commands to the individual members of the squad through simplified commands such as creating smoke for cover, call for grenades, suppressing fire, flank enemies, RPG strikes, recon scans, spot enemies, and more.
As Battlefield 6 pits players in a huge scale, all-out warfare, it’s only natural that they are part of a team which will help boost the intensity of the campaign instead of just going solo through the battlefield.
Being part of a squad does make for a more engrossing and thrilling experience as evident by lots of memorable missions from many other war-based titles in the past which had the player become part of a team of soldiers. Details of Battlefield 6’s single player campaign including it’s squad mechanics were unveiled by BFBulletin’s latest post on X/Twitter which also reveals that at least one member of the squad will accompany the player at all times during the single player sections.
Also, each member of the squad will belong in a different class and you’ll be playing as several of those members throughout the campaign in Battlefield 6 instead of just playing as one particular character for the entirety. Additionally, there will be a revive system similar to the multiplayer where a squad member will be able to come in, drag and revive the downed player.
And while this approach is not entirely new in the war-based games that we’ve seen over the years, Battlefield 6 will definitely put a new spin on the experience which will hopefully add more replay value to the campaign. As revealed by the same post, the single player experience of Battlefield 6 is likely to be only 4-6 hours long which seems awfully short but the squad based system could still make it more replayable in more ways than one and here’s hoping it does.
Battlefield 6 is slated to be released on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC platform.
