Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Drops to $5.99

Nintendo Switch owners seeking a high-quality tactical experience have a limited window to secure one of the platform’s most acclaimed strategy titles at an unprecedented price. For a short time, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is available on the North American Nintendo eShop for just $5.99, representing a 90% discount from its standard retail cost. This promotion ends on March 16, offering a significant opportunity for those who have yet to dive into this crossover collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft.

Since its release four years ago, Sparks of Hope has maintained a strong reputation, boasting an 86 critic rating on OpenCritic. As the spiritual successor to 2017’s Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, this title expanded the franchise’s scope by moving beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into diverse, galactic environments. The gameplay—a refined, strategic take on tactical RPG combat—earned the title “Best Sim/Strategy Game” at The Game Awards in 2022. It remains a robust experience, offering between 20 and 35 hours of content, which is further bolstered by three expansion packs, including a notable DLC featuring Rayman.

Despite its critical success, the title’s commercial journey has been complex. Ubisoft previously noted that the game underperformed against internal sales expectations, a reality that contrasted with its positive reception and the dedication of its development teams at Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Paris. Nevertheless, the community has continued to engage with the game, contributing to a sales resurgence in 2024 that pushed the title to 3 million copies sold globally.

For players on the fence, this $5.99 price point is essentially an outlier in the Nintendo Switch library, as it is rare to see an exclusive of this caliber discounted so heavily. While the title is playable on both the original Switch and the Switch 2 via backward compatibility, fans should temper expectations regarding future franchise entries. With director David Soliani having departed Ubisoft in 2024, the path forward for this specific crossover remains unclear, making this current promotion likely the best way to experience one of the console’s most creative strategic ventures.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
