A sequel to Camouflaj and Oculus Studios’ Batman: Arkham Shadow will be in full development pretty soon, according to recent comments from the voice actor who played the role of Commissioner Gordon in the game. In an interview with Culturecombine, Mark Rolston who also played characters like Norman Osborn in Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Lex Luthor in Injustice: Gods Among Us among other games, has revealed that a sequel for Batman: Arkham Shadow is greenlit and will enter development soon. So if you’ve enjoyed the 2024 VR title, you can look forward to it’s upcoming sequel which will be released on the Meta Quest 3 and 3S platforms.
In the interview, Rolston shared insights on the difference between working on games such as Blade Runner and Spider-Man 2 where the former required him to do only the voice over while the latter had him do “complete motion capture, voice, and everything” which was also similar to what he had to do in Batman: Arkham Shadow as well. Here he also revealed that the developers are “about to start another one of those”, which means another entry in the Batman: Arkham verse is well underway although it’s unknown at this point whether the new game is actually a sequel to Arkham Shadow or a brand new title in the series.
For those of you who haven’t played Batman: Arkham Shadow, it’s actually canon to the Arkham verse created by developer Rocksteady and is set between the events of Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum, so it’s not really a spinoff but a relevant and worthwhile entry in the series. The game also features the iconic Freeflow Combat system from all the Arkham titles, remade from the ground up for a proper VR experience along with all of the gadgets and upgrades as well. Arkham Shadow was also received pretty well critically and was awarded ‘Best VR/AR Game’ at The Game Awards.
