Developer Hanger 13 has released the August 28th Title Update for Mafia: The Old Country which contains a ton of fixes and improvements to the game including issues related to visuals, gameplay, animation and even UI. The latest patch also comes with several platform-specific improvements targeted for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so yes this update is pretty vital and will improve the overall gameplay experience of Mafia: The Old Country in a myriad of ways.
The new patch removes the ghosting effects in cutscenes which occurred previously when upscaling was enabled, also removing flickering from hair which moves more naturally during cutscenes now. The update also fixes a bug that was causing Mafia: The Old Country to crash when DLSS 4 Frame Gen was turned on so the game will now look much better when running with DLSS 4.
Several gameplay improvements have also made it’s way to Mafia: The Old Country through the latest patch, which will now make companions like Luca and Cesare behave more accurately than they did in the base game. The patch also removes invisible walls and other tight spots during combat situations, while making the enemy AI move and react in a more natural way.
