Call of Duty: Warzone Tests Larger Number of Players in Battle Royale Mode

Raven Software has revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone is now testing a larger number of players in its Battle Royale mode, raising the limit from 120 to 150 players on the Urzikstan map. The test is one of the developer’s normal experiments to optimize gameplay and make preparations for future updates, and could indicate that the Verdansk map will be brought back with Season 3.

The adjustment to player counts was announced in a recent post from Raven Software, in which the developer revealed that the test will be used to try performance, match flow, and player feedback. It is not the first time that Warzone has tested player counts. Older builds of the game used to tweak lobby sizes by map layout and community feedback, with developers fine-tuning the experience to deliver balanced pacing.

You may notice something a little different starting today. 👀

In preparation for future updates, we will begin intermittently testing 150 players across standard Battle Royale playlists.

We will be closely monitoring player feedback, performance, and overall impact on match…

Adding testing 150 players has also raised speculation among fans that Verdansk might be back after a long break. Verdansk is among the biggest maps in the franchise and initially had 150-player lobbies when it last made a comeback in 2021. The highly balanced map layout and quick gameplay made it a favorite among the fans, and its comeback would be appreciated by the fans.

Warzone’s current map, Urzikstan, allowed for 100 players on day one and in mid-2024, ramped up support to 120 players. This latest change might be reacting to player outcry that the experience must be more energetic and exciting. Additional players place more emphasis on more fights taking place, rendering downtime between encounters greater and game loop length reduced.

Raven Software assured gamers that they will monitor closely during the test phase and tweak if necessary. If the tweak works, the higher player count could become a norm in future patches.

With the rumored return of Verdansk and ongoing integration with Black Ops 6, Warzone appears to be gearing up for one of its biggest seasons yet. Fans can expect more information in the weeks ahead as the developers refine the experience and reveal their long-term plans for the game.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
