Plus Ultra Legado is a new metroidvania title based in Mesoamerican culture that is coming to PC. This new indie title looks truly stunning with its comic like aesthetic, which also doubles as a neat fourth wall breaker. Almost no games try to pull stunts like this, but Indie titles are oftentimes seen doing risky moves. The only game that comes to mind when it comes to doing comic panel transitions is Comix Zone. Comix Zone was a popular title for the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis if you are from other regions), and it was an interesting beat em up. We at Infinite Start will cover what we know of this new metroidvania title.
Plus Ultra Legado coming soon
There is no proper release date as of yet, but the game will drop soon in 2025. Games like this take lots of time to plan and design. Metroidvanias excel due to their map design and mechanics, often carefully crafted by years. It takes so much time, that we still don’t even have a release date for Hollow Knight Silksong, one of the most wishlisted titles. Plus Ultra Legado sets us in the mesoamerican world, an often foreshadowed civilization in ancient history.
With its comic book aesthetics, this game is set to impressive a huge audience of players who are craving for something different. In the world we live in, a lot of triple A slop is constantly releasing without stopping to consider quality. Live Services invade every crevice, even systems like the Nintendo Switch are plagued by those low quality “games”. Indie games are a wind of change in this terrible timeline, and Plus Ultra Legado is set as a vanguard of the community.
The project has been successfully funded on Kickstarter and the team behind is very active too. If you are interested in a new metroidvania experience, you may want to wishlist this one too.
