The Day Before Devs Return with New Game, Seeking Support Again Despite Controversial Past

Fntastic, the developers of the troubled game The Day Before, have made a surprising comeback. After a disastrous launch and the studio’s sudden shutdown, they have reappeared, asking for financial support through a Kickstarter campaign. In a post on their X/Twitter account, Fntastic shared their plans for a “Fntastic 2.0” and are now asking players to support their new multiplayer game, Escape Factory.

In a statement, the company apologized, saying, “We deeply apologize to everyone for The Day Before and take full responsibility for what happened.” They aim to win back gamers’ trust with a focus on “honesty, transparency, and professionalism.” Their new game, Escape Factory, is a co-op experience for 4-8 players, where characters must escape deadly factories. A free demo is available on Steam, and the Kickstarter campaign has a goal of $15,535.

The announcement of Fntastic’s return has been met with skepticism. The company faced heavy criticism for the use of unpaid volunteers, repeated delays, and a confusing trademark dispute over the title The Day Before. The game’s release was so poorly received that it led to the studio’s closure, and all purchases were refunded. Now, with their new project, Fntastic hopes to leave this troubled history behind.

“Your support is crucial in helping us bring this vision to life,” Fntastic stated on their Kickstarter page. Whether the community will rally behind the studio again remains uncertain.
