If you are one of the players who’s currently enjoying the multiplayer component in Ghost of Yotei named Ghost of Yotei: Legends, there’s going to be some bad news for you as developer Sucker Punch has confirmed that Legends won’t get any more major updates in the future. Ghost of Yotei: Legends had came out in March but according to the devs themselves, the free online multiplayer mode has already received it’s last update with its first Raid.
In an official blog post, the devs have confirmed that Ghost of Yotei: Legends has reached it’s end in terms of all incoming contents, stating: “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it, and enjoy it. It’s been great.”
Released in last month, the Raid in Ghost of Yotei: Legends includes the endgame to Sucker Punch’s free multiplayer mode, where “Ghosts face off against the last two of the supernatural Yōtei Six, The Dragon and Lord Saito. Well, them, plus a horde of warriors and labyrinth strongholds that four players must cooperate together to survive.”
The devs have also shared insights on their vision behind the Legends mode which was a new flavor of multiplayer action and was supposed to be “an escape room where people are trying to kill you.”
“You get a window into what they’re thinking as they’re playing and that communication… You get to see all of it evolving as they’re playing. It’s a very clear window into their full experience. So as developers, that’s really fun to see.”
Ghost of Yotei came out on 2nd October last year and had received highly favorable reviews since it’s release with both it’s combat mechanics and engrossing narrative getting the most praises. In terms of gameplay, story and open world exploration, the game is considered a definite improvement and a natural evolution over it’s predecessor Ghost of Tshushima.
