Subnautica 2 is shaping up to be quite the controversial sequel in gaming, but that’s thanks to the fact that Krafton didn’t want to cooperate and attempted to steal the game in the same way ZA/UM stole Disco Elysium from their original creators. Now we got a trailer showcasing what we can expect to see in this early access version of the game that might be dropping in May 14th of 2026, and I say may cause with all the drama that happened a delay can be possible. Sometimes publishers are very vindictive, and they might attempt to sabotage the release of the game they wanted to control.

For those who are curious about it, I feel like trying to support this game might be ideal considering Krafton isn’t involved with it anymore. One may wonder why I push back so hard against Krafton, and that’s because they are an “AI”-first company that attempts to replace all people from the process of making games. As a matter of fact, they have already attempted this with tons of issues, and the CEO attempted to legally defend itself with one of those chat bots too. The result was epic because it failed him.
Subnautica 2 is now free from the clutches of a misanthropic company, and we as gamers have the obligation to push against misanthropy, because people make games, and people enjoy games. One cannot enjoy something generated out of noise and stolen material, it simply makes no sense, in fact nobody real actually enjoys these kinds of games. Regardless, like with any fad and next big thing, this too shall pass and we will see an era where gaming will revive thanks to the effort of indie creators.
