Wardrum is pretty wild as a concept, and it surprised me that nobody tried this before on PC or any other platform. As always small game developers always bring some wild ideas to fruition, keeping things fresh because the medium thrives in creative concepts rather than simply rehashing the same things over and over. New franchises need to be created, and new ideas need to spawn to keep the medium in a healthy state, Japanese media creators are bound by a law that even incentivizes the creation of new IPs and so far we got some nice hits out of it.
Wardrum looks cool
Wardrum is a very novel concept that combines rhythm games with strategy RPGs, and it does it in such a way that feels natural from the looks of it. It wouldn’t be a proper war without a good soundtrack behind it, and the tribal rhythm of the drum adds to the aggression and even decides what types of moves you will be using. Its very important to have a sense of rhythm but also a sense of strategy if you wanna succeed in this game. Since this one is also a roguelite there is some progression mechanics that might be interesting for those who like the genre.
There’s tons of options to pick from, tons of buffs to grab along the way, and the map is also not linear, always giving you tons of choices on things to do and play around with. It currently sits at a 20% release discount, but keep in mind this one is a game published by Team17, known for their harsh treatment of indie developers who decided they needed the help from someone bigger. If you are interested in this game and want to support the developers without paying, you can wishlist Wardrum.
