Ubisoft officially unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, shifting the long-running series into a turn-based tactical experience slated for release in 2027.
Developing under Ubisoft Paris, the team behind Mario + Rabbids, Rainbow Six Tactics marks the franchise’s first standalone single-player campaign since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 launched back in 2008. The narrative bridges the gap between the tenth and eleventh years of Rainbow Six Siege, following the sudden collapse of the global counter-terrorism organization. Players assume the role of former Vegas protagonist Paul “Six” Bishop, directing squad operations from command centers while managing a roster of 15 familiar operators.
The reveal trailer highlights overhead strategic planning paired with deliberate, grid-based execution. Tactical mechanics center on synchronized breach points, echoing the pre-mission planning phase of the original 1998 PC release. Players assemble squads, customize skill trees across 47 handcrafted maps, and navigate 90 minutes of story cutscenes without microtransactions or live-service elements.

Rainbow Six Tactics is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
