Control Resonant will make it’s way in September this year, and developer Remedy has just released an all-new gameplay video which provides a thorough and detailed look at the moment-to-moment experience in the upcoming game. The video shows off the eerie and atmospheric level designs, the unique, gravity-bending platforming plus the layered combat system featuring a shapeshifting weapon in Control Resonant, so if you want to play Remedy’s latest action adventure title, you can’t miss this. From the looks of things, Control Resonant finds a sweet spot between a standard third person action title and a full blown, over-the-top hack-n-slash game, which should result in lots of exciting and replayable gameplay. We also get to see the platforming section with the protagonist altering the gravity of different parts of the environment for moving out of the way of incoming freight trains, and there’s also a couple of cool aerial moves such as an air-dash which lets the player zoom across different directions during mid air.
However, the combat sections are definitely the highlight of this video and shows Control Resonant’s shapeshifting weapon, named ‘The Aberrant’, in action. The weapon can transform into a massive hammer as well as a scythe and lends to different types of moves suited to both short and long-ranged combat situations. We also see the protagonist using a sort of telekinesis-like ability on the enemies, which opens up more options during the combat, and combined with the weapon, makes quick work of the different foes in the game. Overall, the action of Control Resonant is fast, flashy and highly satisfying and is sure to appeal to all action enthusiasts when the game comes out.
Later in the footage, we also see a long-range dash-like move which allows Dylan to quickly propel himself through large distances in the level, and is also used in the platforming sections in different ways. The protagonist of Control, Jesse Faden, also shows up in the gameplay video, suggesting she may have a crucial part to play in both the overarching narrative as well as in the events of the game.
Control Resonant is set to release on September 24, 2026 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows and macOS.
