Developer Insomniac has just announced that their upcoming Wolverine has gone gold, which means the devs have reached a build that’s ready for release and of course, as the third person action title is still nearly three weeks away from launch, the time window will allow them to polish the game even more and ensure a consistent experience when it comes out this September. Insomniac has confirmed the development status of the upcoming title on their official Twitter/X account, with a short video of Wolverine popping golden claws which the devs have said will be available in the game to unlock and equip.
In other news of the game, James Stevenson, the director of communications at Insomniac Games, has addressed the recent online criticism centered on some of the gameplay aspects of Wolverine, especially in the area of animations and action sequences. The dev has blamed the online algorithm for the backlash and stated: “I think the wild way this algorithm amplifies and forces negativity upon you has me reconsidering my philosophy on telling devs to look or post here. It’s a relentless onslaught that I cannot believe is good for anyone’s mental health nor representative.”
However, several other users on X have had mixed reactions on his comment where one player has stated that the developer is simply branding legitimate concerns from players as ‘negativity’ towards the game which is clearly not the case.
Surprisingly, many players have had less-than-enthusiastic reactions from various gameplay videos of Insomniac’s upcoming title so far which can be a little bit shocking for obvious reasons.
Marvel’s Wolverine comes out in two different editions–the Standard version of the game will cost you $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version sports a price tag of $79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that.
Wolverine is slashing his way into the Playstation 5 on September 15, 2026.
