Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve just got an amazing trailer showcasing a ton of graphical prowess, but surprisingly almost no gameplay or even combat at all. Still, what we can see is something that the series deserves, a proper sequel that will expand upon other things the series has done before. I can’t wait for this release to eventually land and surprise everyone with some new and convoluted plot. Since Ace Combat 3 on the first PlayStation, it has been clear that this series really loves weird moments and plot twists that will surprise anyone who goes into the game thinking its merely just a flight sim.
Ace Combat 8 will be big
It might be the best one in the series provided it sticks the landing, it will also have online features too, however keep in mind that this one will have Denuvo and also Kernel level anti cheat software. It is pretty grim to think that this game could be lost forever if something bad happens with it, hopefully we can trust on Bandai Namco to archive their history and save builds for the game if push comes to shove. The series has spawned in the PS1 era, and I still remember the stories it wanted to tell.
It is a great game, and it definitely feels like it will be a great flight simulator, Ace Combat 8 might end up just being the best one if everything goes right. I hope that they remove the problematic things like the Anti cheat software and Denuvo, because those can take a huge toll on your performance if they are paired together. At least there will be fans of the series doing modifications and other hacks to ensure we don’t have to deal with problems like this, its decades of fans after all.
