The recent Ubisoft layoffs are the final nails in the coffin for Ubisoft, they even said it themselves, and I can’t wait to see them come down and free all of the IPs they have grabbed. Rayman needs a better home, ideally with some independent developer that happens to be a fan of the franchise. As we can see, all of these big corporations keep putting their eggs in one basket expecting to see if they can make something that sticks like Fortnite, but fortunately they aren’t managing to keep things together. It will be a surprise if Ubisoft survives 2026.
Ubisoft layoffs will kill the company
I don’t even know what they expected, they fired thousands, and now they are just realizing the mistake they committed. It is crazy how they don’t have a ounce of foresight to see this coming but if you remove your key talent, or well anyone who is doing a good job, your company will just die off. These are very basic things and supposedly the people who control companies are meant to be very smart in theory, but as we can see time and time again that isn’t true at all. It is crazy that this is the people who decide how our hobby goes.
The layoffs are catastrophic, and this isn’t the only company purging pretty much the entirety of the industry as we speak, Xbox is also at fault. However the Ubisoft layoffs are special because the company isn’t in a good position to take risks like this, yet as we can see the only thing the upper echelon care about is stashing more cash away to eventually flee before the company collapses. Once they have fled, they will live their best lives ever despite the company being destroyed and thousands of lives ruined.
