Square Enix has released Patch 7.55 for Final Fantasy 14, introducing the Occult Crescent: North Horn field operation zone, new Phantom Jobs, and the final enhancement stages for Phantom relic weapons. Requiring a 1.3 GB download, the update expands endgame activities for Level 100 players while continuing the content cycle established in the 7.5 expansion series. The newly unlocked North Horn region increases the maximum Knowledge level cap from 20 to 40, providing players with expanded elemental mechanics and higher-tier skirmishes to tackle across the instanced island.
Central to the North Horn content are two new Phantom Jobs: the Phantom Dragoon and the Phantom Necromancer. Raising these specialized roles to their maximum level awards permanent Phantom Mastery attributes that benefit players regardless of their primary class. Adventurers exploring the region can also enter the Forked Tower: Magic, a large-scale public dungeon that features both Normal and Extreme difficulty settings. Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida confirmed that adding a Normal mode directly addresses player feedback following the strict difficulty of the previous Forked Tower: Blood.
Story content receives significant additions with the climax of the Dawntrail Hildibrand questline, wrapping up the inspector’s latest comedic escapades. Furthermore, players who have achieved maximum reputation levels with the Pelupelu, Mamool Ja, and Yok Huy allied societies can undertake a new capstone quest that ties all three Tural cultures together. The patch also introduces targeted balance tweaks across several PvP jobs—including Paladin, Dark Knight, Dragoon, and Machinist—alongside new furnishings, cosmetic options, and system bug fixes.
Looking ahead, Square Enix confirmed that Patch 7.56 is scheduled to launch on September 8, featuring main scenario bridge quests leading into the Evercold expansion in January 2027. The September update will also debut the Beastmaster Limited Job, while a special Gold Saucer collaboration event with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is slated to follow in late October.
