Digital Extremes has announced a surprise crossover event in Warframe designed to show solidarity with the Destiny community following news that Destiny 2 has received its final major update. Scheduled for June 17, the upcoming event represents a rare display of public support between competing live-service developers during a period of intense community anxiety.
The free event will manifest as a special in-game Alert located on the planet Telesto, titled “Make Your Own Fate.” The naming is a deliberate, dual-layered tribute to Bungie’s franchise. Within Destiny lore, “Guardians make their own fate” is a defining mantra originated during the classic Vault of Glass raid. Simultaneously, Telesto is a notorious exotic fusion rifle in Destiny 2 that became a long-running community meme due to the sheer frequency with which its technical bugs broke the game’s code.
This crossover initiative follows a massive wave of player organizing after Sony and Bungie leadership indicated a wind-down of active Destiny 2 development. On June 9, fans organized a massive “server slam,” driving the game’s concurrent Steam player count past 167,000. The demonstration aimed to signal to Sony executives that substantial consumer demand remains for the intellectual property, outperforming the launch windows of several previous expansions and comfortably doubling the player metrics of Bungie’s upcoming shooter, Marathon.
