S-GAME has officially delayed its upcoming wuxia action-RPG, Phantom Blade Zero, pushing its launch from the early September window to October 29, 2026. The 50-day postponement was confirmed alongside a new teaser trailer showcased during the recent PlayStation State of Play presentation. While relatively brief, the delay repositions the high-profile console exclusive dangerously close to the highly anticipated arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Studio CEO and game director Liang “Soulframe” Qiwei addressed the scheduling shift, stating that the extra time will be used to implement a final layer of polish. According to Liang, the development team identified a significant opportunity to elevate the project’s quality during its final optimization phase, prompting the studio to accept a minor delay to maximize the game’s potential. This marks the first major update on the project since its initial launch window was revealed back at The Game Awards 2025.
By moving deeper into the fall calendar, Phantom Blade Zero faces a vastly different competitive landscape. A significant portion of the industry has deliberately cleared out of November to avoid competing with Rockstar Games’ next flagship title, leaving late autumn mostly empty. Moving into late October positions the Beijing-based developer’s project as one of the final blockbuster releases to hit the market before the pre-ordered holiday rush begins to dictate consumer spending.
S-GAME has outlined its upcoming summer roadmap to keep fans engaged during the extended wait. The studio plans to debut a comprehensive gameplay trailer alongside the launch of official pre-orders for both the PlayStation 5 and PC versions. Though pricing tiers have not been finalized, the wuxia-inspired title is expected to align with the standard $69.99 premium pricing model adopted by contemporary major publishers.
