Steam Controller is being scalped at crazy prices in 2026

Steam Controller

The Steam Controller might be one of the most important releases from Valve, however its currently being scalped. The $99 price tag might be tempting but many are claiming that it is a bit overpriced for something that can be easily replaced with some Xbox controller or even an 8-Bit Do. This didn’t deter scalpers from snagging all possible stock from the virtual store, making it crash for some moments in the process of doing so, this wasn’t the first time that Steam suffered an outage due to tons of requests at the same time. Ebay seems to be having an influx of them at the moment.

Steam Controller crisis

While not at an ideal MSRP, the current prices that these things are going for in other storefronts are insane, some claiming they have been bumped things into $200, citing it as a low end. Its still insane how nobody thought about solving the scalper crisis in any meaningful way, yet it shows that there’s a bigger issue going on with society as there’s not much one can do to secure a decent wage. If these bigger problems were solved, I’m very sure that nobody would be inclined to scalp the Steam Controller or other items as there would be no crises to deal with.

The Steam Controller is merely one of the many objects that are being scalped in modern times, the most popular being Pokemon Cards. Scalping wasn’t really a thing back in the day at least not with this sort of force behind it, but it shows that when society is in a bad spot people will do everything possible to secure a living any way they can. Perhaps the anger that scalpers get should be more useful if it was redirected to the core of the problem, society itself needs to be changed to prevent this.
