R-Type Dimensions III just got released on PC, with it comes a trailer showcasing the redone graphics and the ability to switch between original and modern styles. It is crazy how amazing it looks under the hood of the new graphics, however there is a ton of issues with the game when it comes to optimization and also how it works too. Hitboxes are the deal breaker for many, and it seems that they are misplaced, which is a huge red flag for a game that is meant to be precision based like a Shoot ’em up. I have a feeling these issues will be fixed but for now people should be waiting for a sale.
R-Type Dimensions III is out
It is out but it is also a broken game that needs more time in the oven, thankfully with today’s technology we can patch the issues to ensure the game can be as good as it was meant to be. I want to believe that with enough fixes, R-Type Dimensions III will become the definitive way to play R-Type III, a game that was desperately in need of a port. Whether people like it or not, these types of revisited versions of games are needed to preserve the legacy of them, but I can understand when the quality is shoddy like in this example.
R-Type Dimensions III had the potential to be amazing on launch but it got caught in a crossfire of bad reviews and also severe technical issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible. Depending on what the studio does around this game, we will see if they can make it justice or if it will remain as a buggy mess that isn’t worth trying out. Sadly the 2D original mode is affected by the same issues so, you can’t avoid the problems.
