Microsoft’s efforts to overhaul their Xbox brand in meaningful ways continue–we’ve seen the company introducing a new boot up sound, a new logo and the latest in line is the Xbox Player Voice which is a new feedback platform offering the chance to vote on various community requests. According to Microsoft, they’ve realized that “it isn’t always obvious what happens after you share your feedback” and the new tool is going to provide a more effective as well as easier way to share your experience in these following ways, as mentioned in the official blog post:
- Share feedback on your experience with XBOX
- See when your feedback has been received and reviewed
- Follow updates if and when there’s progress to report
- Get a clearer sense of how your input is shaping the future of XBOX
Microsoft has also mentioned that players shouldn’t expect all or even most of their feedbacks turned into upcoming features for the Xbox platform: “We want to be clear: this doesn’t mean every piece of feedback will turn into a feature or result in a change. Building across a large, global platform means weighing a lot of inputs. But better visibility helps close the gap between what you tell us and what you see happen next on XBOX.”
Now only time will tell whether the new feature will turn out to be actually valuable for both the players and the platform or if it’s just yet another cosmetic change without any meaningful punch. But soon after the launch of the Player Voice, the single most requested feature by fans of Xbox is the platform’s return to exclusives which was also kind of expected as Microsoft’s multiplatform push had alienated a large part of the core fans and it’s evident from the most voted thread in the feedback chart which says the following:
“XBOX was built off of great game exclusives, you cannot sell any consoles without a reason to buy the console compared to your competition or even sending your tentpole games over to your competitor. BRING THEM BACK PLEASE!!!”
Hopefully Microsoft has received the message loud and clear and it’d be interesting to see what they actually do with it as they continue to reshape the Xbox brand in new ways.
