According to a leak that was reported several days ago, the pre-orders for GTA 6 were claimed to start from today, May 18 and clearly, it has turned out to be completely and utterly false. A few days ago, many people on the internet were reported to receive an affiliate email from Best Buy which turned out to be about GTA 6 pre-order campaign but as it turns out, the reports were entirely inaccurate. However, Best Buy is yet to officially comment on this so stay tuned for more updates.
The affiliate emails had first originated from Impact, which is currently one of the leading affiliate partner marketplaces and if you have an Impact account yourself and also signed up to receive affiliate orders from Best Buy, chances are you have received one of those emails. Also, Youtuber Frogboyx1gaming was reported to receive an email from Best Buy to his affiliate account signalling a pre-order campaign for GTA 6 which would start on May 18 and run till May 21.
It was also thought that another trailer for the upcoming title would be released during this time too, only to have turned out as false, just like the other claims.
And to make matters really concrete, the main administrator of the GTA forums has just confirmed from a verified source at a European distribution company that there’s currently no pre-orders scheduled, which clearly means there had been a mistake from Best Buy.
However, although everyone who was waiting for GTA 6 pre-orders to go live today are disheartened, there’s some good news on the horizon too, as the Take-Two CEO has recently re-affirmed that the open world behemoth from Rockstar Games and certainly the most anticipated videogame of all time, is still on track for a November 19 release which is great news for everyone.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
