Double Dragon

Double Dragon has been a massively influential series that helped shaped up the beat em up genre for a long while, back before Streets of Rage was a massive hit, the adventure of Billy and Jimmy Lee marked the life of many gamers in the past. Their legacy can still be found in new games that released, and one would wonder what would the world of gaming be without the contributions of Yoshihisa Kishimoto, creator of Double Dragon himself. Unfortunately, his recent passing was announced by his son, who once helped with the creation of Double Dragon IV.

Double Dragon creator left a mark

Its unfortunate, especially when they leave this world being so young, at the age of 64 one would expect that there would still be more things coming forward. Sadly this wasn’t the case, but that does not mean that the efforts of Yoshihisa Kishimoto have gone unnoticed, his contributions truly transformed the world of gaming and they will continue to be remembered by many. Double Dragon is a very important series to many, true gamers still remember the epic battles against various dark forces and the lore behind Billy and Jimmy’s adventures.

I personally feel like the series can continue forward by the hand of Kishimoto’s son, however, it would be understandable if the series ended here. The legacy can still be felt and everyone is deeply grateful for the work done into bringing Double Dragon to life. Many also grieve the death of the creator, and I personally find that these games has formed a core memory of my gaming journey, so I also feel appalled due to this. Whatever the decision is for the series, if it will keep going or not, that shall be decided by the people involved with it and I would respect their wishes.
