Highguard is finally taken down from Steam in 2026

Highguard

Highguard has kicked the bucket, and gamers are not amused because they knew this was gonna happen, it was inevitable and the fate that every live service game eventually meets. Now, gamers are realizing that maybe having a ton of these games coming isn’t a good thing, some are starting to bet on how quick will Marathon fall down, everyone wishes it would have been a single player game instead but trend chasers are always gonna trend chase no matter what the trend even is. Highguard was a free game, let this be a lesson for any other person who makes a live service game, we don’t want more.

Highguard is dead

And it only lasted a total of 4 Concords, what a surprise, now we need to focus on the fact that Marathon might last a little more than it because it has an IP name behind it. The only way these games can last is if they have a big brand name attached to them, and even still people will often hate the guts out of that game. Marvel Rivals is finally dying down because people realized there’s no reason to actually care about it, meanwhile the people behind Highguard thought that a final update would bring tons of people, they were wrong.

When we say we are tired of this, we actually mean it, we don’t want to see more live service games being pumped left and right, unless you really want to meet the fate of companies like Warner Bros Games, that pretty much closed their entire game division. Real developers focus on single player quality games, and this is why Japan keeps taking the lead when it comes to making awesome stuff. There’s tons of live service games one can already play such as Counter Strike and Overwatch, why bother with more?
