It’s just revealed that EA had used several AI tools during the development of Battlefield 6 but they were strictly to accelerate various technical aspects in the game such as it’s animations and character face creations, so it’s not really in ways that feel objectionable. According to a recent report by Fast Company which has named Embark Studios, Nintendo and Electronic Arts as some of the most innovative gaming companies in 2026, the AI tools used in EA’s flagship shooter Battlefield 6 has been discussed in detail. The report states:
“…the game’s playability was undergirded by EA’s investment in AI-powered tools that sped up several crucial steps in the development process.”
“A cornerstone of the effort was Voice2Face, a speech-to-animation system that can turn recorded dialogue into a high-quality facial lip-sync animation. For all of Battlefield 6’s cinematic scenes, EA used the technology in its blocking animation, and 30% of the final animated speech was generated using Voice2Face.”
The article has also mentioned the application of another AI tool named FaceRig that has been used for speeding up face creations for in-game characters in Battlefield 6.
“The company also used its FaceRig pipeline to speed up the process of character face creation using procedurally generated “deformation units”—changes to a base character model that create its features. By integrating FaceRig with Autodesk tools Maya and Flow, EA was able to turn a process that used to take 15 days into one that takes hours, and allows for refinements on character design earlier.”
So even though Battlefield 6 has used AI in several areas of it’s development, those were strictly to assist artists in areas of animation and face creations and although there have been in-game images confirmed to be made with AI, they seem to be rather minimal than anything more. However, EA hasn’t disclosed the use of AI in the game’s Steam page which is currently required for all titles available on the storefront.
