Creepy Jar Reveals StarRupture

Creepy Jar, the studio behind the tough survival game Green Hell, is changing its focus from the jungle to deep space with its new title, StarRupture, currently available on Steam. The game is set to release on January 6, 2026. It aims to connect the grand exploration of Bethesda’s Starfield with the detailed base-building systems found in Valheim. Many space games struggle to balance size and depth, but StarRupture wants to combine its interstellar aims with tactical first-person gameplay and an ongoing sense of danger from the environment.

The main gameplay loop takes place on a volatile, open-world planet that acts as both a lab and a battlefield. Unlike the unchanging settings often seen in this genre, the landscape in StarRupture is always changing. This forces players to rethink how they manage resources and place their bases in real time. The game focuses heavily on industrial automation and first-person combat. Players will need to fight off alien hordes while managing complex machinery. This suggests a more intense experience than what you usually find in sandbox survival games.

For seasoned players, the game’s flexibility is appealing. StarRupture allows for both solo play and cooperative multiplayer, recognizing that the best survival stories are often shared. The art style reflects an industrial-era science fiction vibe, moving away from clean “NASA-punk” to a grittier feel similar to The Outer Worlds. By combining Valheim’s stable building mechanics with a high-stakes sci-fi world, Creepy Jar aims to address the “empty planet” issue that recent space RPGs have faced.

As the January 6 launch date gets closer, this project will test Creepy Jar’s ability to expand their survival skills into a bigger, more intricate game. With the game already available for wishlisting on Steam, the community is closely watching to see if StarRupture can create a smooth experience where others have failed. If done well, it could set the benchmark for the next generation of open-world survival RPGs.
