RAM prices are insane, I never believed we would face something critical like pricing in such a vital component for PC gaming. The fact that we are in this situation is thanks to all the people who are involved with “AI”, that not only are eating up all the hardware we need, but they are also draining natural resources such as water to power their dystopian fantasies. The damage done by “AI” and the people pushing for it is immeasurable and it pretty much cemented the decade of 2020 as one of the worst ones ever. Now Larian has to do what devs used to do.
No more RAM? No problem
Larian is doing their best trying to optimize the game, even if they said they don’t wanna do it. However, the company is currently under fire for allegations of “AI” usage, yes, the very same “AI” that puts prohibitive prices on RAM right now. If these accusations are true, then the big issue that is mounting at Larian might be catastrophic if it does not get fixed soon. “AI”, no matter if generative or whatnot, has no place in the workplace, as it has been proved to cause a big decline in efficiency due to having people wrangle with a bot instead of doing things.
We never needed this, we were already doing everything perfect the only thing we needed to fix is crunch culture, but now we have devolved back into the dark ages of gaming. The upcoming Divinity is filled to the brim with controversies, not only from the alleged “AI” usage but also from the fact that it decided to shock people at the game awards with a surprising trailer. It is my belief that art needs to be unbound, so the fact that Larian did this in the first place is an absolute surprise. I wonder what kind of RAM we will need to play the game however.
