Overwatch 2 Season 20 "Vendetta" Introduces Melee Hero

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the details for Overwatch 2’s Season 20, called “Vendetta.” It will start on December 9. The highlight of this update is Marzia Bartalotti, known as Vendetta. She will be the game’s first melee damage hero. Vendetta is a highly mobile and aggressive character. She is the daughter of former Talon executive Antonio Giordani and seeks revenge against both Talon and Overwatch. This storyline will add a significant layer of lore to the game as the year ends.

In addition to the new hero, the season brings big changes to the Stadium game mode and the competitive ladder. Players can expect updates in Stadium, with Doomfist and Wuyang joining the playable roster. Cassidy’s unique Powers and Items will also undergo a significant rework. The competitive experience will improve, mainly through updates to the Challenger Score system. This system will now offer increased rank progression for players who maintain win streaks and receive queue bonuses. Blizzard also plans to tackle community concerns by introducing a feature that refunds rank progress lost due to a cheating player being banned. The highest tier of play will formally include a Top 500 tier, along with the desirable League 6 Reaper Chase skin as a special reward. A new Control map set in China will also be added to the main map rotation.

The holiday season will see the return of the popular Winter Wonderland event, which runs from December 9 to January 7. This event features a three-path reward system, allowing players to unlock new skins, like Jingle Tracer, Krampus Junkrat, and Santa Claus Torbjorn. The popular prop hunt mode, Mischief & Magic, will also return with a winter theme. Notably, during the latter half of the event, Kiriko will gain special powers based on her current disguise. Completing the event’s quests will reward players with Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy cosmetics.

For those focused on Battle Pass progression, Season 20 contains exciting Mythic rewards. These include the customizable Divine Desperado Cassidy hero skin and the Capsule Cannon Orisa Mythic weapon skin. The new season will also introduce many themed cosmetics, such as the Heist and Cozy skin lines. Additionally, players will finally be able to gift Battle Passes, currency bundles, and premium packs directly to friends through Battle.net. All these features will launch with Season 20.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
