Donkey Kong Bananza

Donkey Kong Bananza has to be one of the most impressive games of 2025 when it comes to terrain interaction. In fact, it might be the best game of the world when it comes to terrain interaction, as you can pretty much destroy almost everything in the map. This alone guarantees a position for The Game Awards, along with nominees such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Hades II. All of these games are the cream of the crop of 2025, and the majority are indie games. Nintendo never stops surprising when making games, but will they win the crown of 2025 GOTY?

Donkey Kong Bananza is crazy

Donkey Kong Bananza might be one of the best games made by Nintendo, and so far its clearly the best game on the Switch 2. Sadly, the console is vastly overpriced, and includes a gimmick that makes plenty of people angry, the Key Card system that prevents people from owning their games for real. Physical media has become obsolete according to companies, but we are in times where we really need to access the things we buy in a reliable way. Leaving that aside, Donkey Kong Bananza is a technical certainly masterpiece made with love, it deserves its current nominee position.

Nintendo might have blundered it with pricing and controversial decisions, but they never blunder things when it comes to games. Tons of people had fun with Donkey Kong Bananza, and it is clear that the reason this game is getting nominated is because people really care about it. While some might be angry at this game winning Game of the Year, we have to cut some slack to Nintendo in this situation, you can vote for what game you wish to see win here at The Game Awards. Results shall be revealed in December 11th of 2025.
