Over 500 Steam NextFest demos seem to use “AI” slop

Over 500 Steam NextFest demos

Over 500 Steam NextFest demos are slop and this is very sad. Valve should start regulating what can enter and what can’t, even algorithmically removing them would be ideal. Alas, Valve isn’t what it used to be, and a ton of things they have done have harmed the gaming industry more than help it. They popularized microtransactions, and they keep doubling down on attacking games made in Japan. There has been issues with them for a long while, and allowing “AI” slop into the platform is a big thing, but the slop that seeped into the NextFest was merely some 17% of titles, which is not much and honestly gives hope.

Over 500 Steam NextFest demos are just 17% slop

And it could be way worse, this looks like metrics that would have existed back in 2023, and things will keep going further down as time goes on and people realize this is a dead end. A ton of researchers are pointing out that “AI” will never reach AGI, whatever that mumbo jumbo might mean, it really makes me remember the era when NFTs were all the rage. AI follows the same cycle as the Dot Com bubble, and when things started to settle down it devalued in such a way it made entire grift industries irrelevant. Creativity always triumphs this is an universal fact.

The future is human creativity, not artificial stupidity, each time you consume “AI” part of your brain actually shutdown in a dangerous way. It has been proven by various researchers that cognitive abilities start to decay when people interact with slop itself. Nobody sane wants to become brainrotted by slop, and the only thing one needs to learn is how to identify it to avoid it, it’s very easy. If you want to play good games on the Steam NextFest, you can try out the demo of Majogami or even something weird like The Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis.
