Even though we’re currently on the second week of the open beta for Battlefield 6, it has already proved to be an enormous success that has engaged around 500,000 concurrent players on Steam alone in just it’s first weekend. And while the overall numbers will be much bigger when you take players on both consoles into account as well, it’s evident that EA’s upcoming flagship shooter has already become a huge hit.
But most of all, Battlefield 6 has nearly earned roughly $35 million in terms of Steam pre-orders alone (as reported by Alinea Analytics), while it’s open beta is yet to complete it’s second week run, which is perhaps the most potentially worrying factor for it’s arch-rival, Activision’s juggernaut Call of Duty franchise. The latest entry in the iconic Battlefield series has also hit 2.7 million wishlists and more importantly, 62% of existing Call of Duty players have currently wishlisted Battlefield 6, which indicates a possible shift in the playerbase as well.
Those numbers are also sure to be a lot higher after the completion of the currently ongoing second weekend run of the open beta for Battlefield 6. EA’s upcoming FPS has also surpassed the overall player counts of Call of Duty on Steam by a substantial margin, indicating Battlefield 6 winning over lots of players from the Call of Duty camp this year.
And while Battlefiled 6 open beta is currently undergoing a bit of Matchmaking-related issues that DICE is working to address, it’s still doing exceptionally well as it has already engaged over 300,000 players on Steam. As a workaround to the issues, Battlefield Studios has recommended players to run the most recent client update for the game while users on the EA app can try to fix the issue by just pressing the “Repair” button.
DICE has also previously detailed all the changes and new features you can expect on the second weekend of the open beta, so check those out here.
Battlefield 6 is slated to be released on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
