Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is widely cherished as one of the best entries in the decade-old series of games, and for all the right reasons. With a massive overhaul of the naval combat seen in it’s predecessor Assassin’s Creed 3, Black Flag also honed all of the usual gameplay mechanics’ of the series to a whole new level of polish and richness including genuinely great Stealth sections that you can play over and over again and never get tired of. Plus, the storyline was also pretty great with an exceptional character arc that felt natural and believable which also ranks as one of the best in the series.
When you consider all the reasons why many players believe Black Flag was peak Assassin’s Creed when it came out back in 2014, the possibility of a remake or a modernized version of the game seems all the more likely and totally worthwhile. And while Ubisoft has been strictly quiet regarding any official announcements or confirmations regarding a remake of Black Flag, multiple reports and news which supported the claim that there is indeed a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4 in development using the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil Engine, have surfaced in the past several years.
But clearly the most glaring piece of hint regarding the Black Flag remake has recently arrived from none other than the voice actor for Edward Kenway, the main protagonist in the original Black Flag, Matt Ryan who has teased a fan of the series in a rather cryptic way, which suggests there’s a lot more going on than what he’s allowed to say at this point. Check out the short conversation that took place between Matt and a fan in a recent convention posted in social media.
This also raises more questions about the Black Flag Remake such as whether Ryan is voicing Edward Kenway again or how much is his involvement in the upcoming title and so on. But whatever the answers may turn out to be, here’s hoping we get to know them pretty soon.
