Warhammer Dev Sees Grand SCP Universe Adaption

Anatoly Shestov, the executive producer on successful Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has now revealed a very personal dream: making a mass-scale game in the interesting Secure, Contain, and Protect (SCP) universe. This was during a presentation of the Lex Imperialis DLC for Rogue Trader, giving a deep dive into the gameplay vision-based objectives at Owlcat Games, a studio dedicated to thoughtful interpretations of legendary intellectual properties.

Owlcat Games, since its establishment in 2016, has built a reputable niche by its provision of immersive role-playing experience on the basis of popular tabletop IPs. Games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous are a testament to their capacity for filling deep lore in captivating digital narratives. With titles like Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn so close to release, Shestov’s SCP game is promising an expansion goal for the studio into potentially original but community-derived intellectual properties.

Shestov described his enduring admiration for the SCP Foundation, a wiki-based, open-source endeavor in which a global community builds tales of the anomalous and the supernatural. He isolated the community-driven aspect, where there’s a genuine-to-goodness “child inside me” kind of reverence for the genius of its open-source ideology. The potential for an epic-scale, high-budget RPG delving into the nitty-gritty of this fan-created mythology does have some appeal, one that posits a project that could combine Owlcat’s storytelling prowess with the SCP universe’s boundless imagination.

Although Shestov’s remarks don’t solidify any immediate SCP game development plans in Owlcat’s pipeline, they set an exciting course of action for things to come. The SCP universe, which debuted in 2008, has long been a driving force behind many games in every genre imaginable, such as horror, strategy, and first-person shooters, among others like SCP: Secret Laboratory and SCP: 5K. An Owlcat prestige studio might very well take the SCP gaming experience to unprecedented and new levels with an expensive budget production, and it would provide a dramatic, profound dive into its distinctive world of the unexplained.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
