Tyro: Legend of the Whisperwood is an upcoming PC game alpha that will release soon in 2025. This new title is a metroidvania where we will play as a mouse seeking for revenge. The art style is one of the biggest features of the game, and it truly makes it stand out form their peers. It is clear that Turtlevania Games is putting lots of dedication into this project, and we can hope it finds success. Releasing a bit of the game is actually quite the good strategy, that way it is possible to test if people enjoy the concept and want more of it. We at Infinite Start will give a chance to this lovingly crafted indie title.
Tyro is coming for us in 2025
We need more games that ooze creativity, the industry is becoming too stale with triple A games we don’t really need. When people who likes games create them, most of the time, it ends up being another piece of art that is worth a play. Too many games are being pumped out by people with corporate minds however, and those often feel soulless and empty.
In Tyro: Legend of the Whisperwood , you play as Tyro, a revengeful field mouse navigating Beetle City. Beetle City is an eerie and isolated locale ruled by beetles and untouched by the spreading Gladeblight, a sickness turning the creatures of Whisperwood into violent husks. This makes me reminisce of the curse of the undead in Dark Souls, and it is clear that there might have been some influence from it too.
All of the game will be hand drawn, which is a huge thing to accomplish, more games need to bring diverse art styles to the table. While digital tools like GIMP provide people with the ease of not having to use paper, along with wonderful options to do neat effects, it is more rewarding to produce things by hand.
