Bethesda is asking for feedback from fans of The Elder Scrolls series regarding the Oblivion Remaster. It is time to tell Bethesda that they should have improved the PC version, making it more optimized and also featuring proper Steam Deck support. More often than not, people actually want games that are optimized, but doing so requires work and actually caring about what you make. Developers do care, but publishers only see target release dates, data and metrics, they don’t care about passion, only business strategy. Now that the game is released, it seems that developers are coming forward to fix the mess the publishers caused as collateral. We at Infinite Start will cover some changes to bring.
Bethesda is asking for help
Nowadays, what runs through the industry like water is the MVP model, that is, Minimum Viable Product. In software development, this is the basic framework most people use to produce applications. However, like with everything, its not a panacea that solves all problems. Games being an artistic medium cannot afford to follow such deranged method of production, alas, the current industry trends are this.
With updates and the rise of patching things online that you don’t even own, changes can be made to any part of a game without your consent. Bethesda is asking for help with these changes thankfully, and they don’t seem to be malicious at all. This is the best time to ask them to optimize their game, perhaps to actually use Unreal Engine 5 properly, even if it takes more time.
Publishers don’t really care about the Oblivion Remaster once it released, and now they are moving to other projects. Developers can salvage what could potentially be a decent remaster from being bad. So better go to those forums, since Bethesda is asking for someone to lend them a hand with decisions.
