Rumor: Grand Theft Auto 5 Could Be Returning to Xbox Game Pass

A new rumor suggests that Grand Theft Auto 5 could return to Xbox Game Pass in 2025, following recent updates to the Rockstar Games Launcher suggesting PC Game Pass support. Rockstar has yet to confirm or deny this, but the rumor is from established GTA insider TezFunz2, who has previously accurately leaked information on the series.

GTA 5 was previously playable on Xbox Game Pass in 2024, where the open-world crime saga would be included for free for subscribers to play. Rockstar then subsequently removed the game from the service later on. New data discovered on the Rockstar Launcher indicates the developer is poised to re-add GTA 5 back to Game Pass, possibly to console and PC. If that’s the case, it would be the first time that PC version of GTA 5 is offered through Microsoft’s subscription service.

This step would be a smart one on the part of Rockstar since it readies to bring highly awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 later in 2025. In bringing back GTA 5 to Game Pass, Rockstar gets to bring in new players into the fold, increase GTA Online play, and retain fans excited for the series until GTA 6 arrives. With millions of active gamers still playing GTA 5 every day, a Game Pass return would create all the buzz it needs.

A second reason that rumor has merit is because Rockstar recently updated the PC version of GTA 5 to improve its performance and catch it up to the latest versions for consoles. If the game is brought back to Game Pass, PC users would finally have the game to play on Microsoft’s subscription platform, further widening its user base.

While there has yet to be confirmation, the signs point to GTA 5 returning to Game Pass at some point in the near future. Given GTA 6 is now in the works, it would not surprise if a deal was made between Microsoft and Rockstar to include one of the best-selling titles in gaming history back on Game Pass for subscribers in 2025.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
