The most eagerly anticipated game of the year (and possibly of the entire decade as well), Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6 is still set for it’s official release window of fall 2025, parent company Take-Two insists.
Reporting for the company’s third quarter ending December 31, 2024 financial results, GTA 6 is still confirmed to be in Take-Two’s lineup for a fall 2025 release on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This surely means that Rockstar’s Open World behemoth is still on track to release on it’s earlier announced window and there’s no news of the game getting delayed or anything like that, as of yet. Also, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said to IGN that the company is at a good place regarding the launch of GTA 6.
“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things,” Zelnick commented when questioned about the game’s release, “So we feel really good about it.”
“Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally,” he stated. “We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.”
However, it’s important to remember that the required promotional materials for the release of a game such as GTA 6’s caliber is still suspiciously low as of yet. Of course that may very well change as we get further into 2025 but with the release of just a single trailer so far, which has been well over a year since it came out, the possibility of GTA 6’s release slipping well into 2026 is real and tangible.
There’s currently a lot of unknown surrounding the launch of GTA 6, from the release date of it’s second full-length trailer to the possibility of a PC version and all of which only add to the game’s overall mystique which in turn furthers it’s anticipation.
