Bungie confirmed their simulations proved the Destiny 2 community’s suspicions that certain perk combinations are easier/harder to get than others.
This was revealed in a brief reddit post, along with touching on their plans going forward.
Our team has been working through community-sourced data and internal simulations to reproduce reported issues regarding legendary weapon perk RNG.
After investigation, we can confirm an issue has been found in our code where some random perk combinations are harder to earn per legendary weapon perk set. In some cases, desirable perk combinations are a bit easier to earn as well. While we inspected our content and confirmed each perk is weighted equally, an issue in perk pool RNG is the culprit here.
Our team has quickly identified a potential solution to the issue, and we are rapidly working to validate the fix.
We are aiming to address this as soon as possible and will share a planned hotfix date when available.
For those who missed the previous article, or would just like a quick overview, the problem was first noticed when a desirable perk combo on VS Chill Inhibitor. What many would consider the best roll was among the least commonly held, a fact that didn’t make sense if every drop was equal.
Following this reveal Bungie confirmed perks are not weighted, but players kept investigating the situation. It was ultimately determined this was a widespread issue that was present for an indeterminate amount of time.
Now that Bungie has confirmed this is a real phenomenon, rates should be brought more in-line. In the mean time we suggest checking out Light.gg’s list of trait combos. This should give an idea of which perks are in the good, or bad range, as several weapons are currently easier to get a god roll of than others.
