Frostpunk 2 launched just three days ago, September 20, and in this tiny period of time it has managed to fully recover the production and marketing costs incurred over the last four years or so. The much-anticipated title hit the market via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the early numbers are impressive.
According to 11 Bit Studios, Frostpunk 2 has already sold over 350,000 copies during its first weekend. Given this extraordinary start, expectations are high for the sales to grow further, especially with the game’s upcoming release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
They also expressed optimism about the game’s future performance. Frostpunk 2 had been in development for roughly four years, following the major success of its predecessor, which sold over 5 million copies in six years. The sequel is already proving to be a hit, and sales numbers are expected to rise as the game receives future support and console releases.
Originally slated for a July release, Frostpunk 2 was delayed to September to allow the development team to polish the final product. Judging by the overwhelmingly positive reception from both players and critics, it appears that the delay was a wise decision.
