MultiVersus Relaunches with Impressive Player Numbers, But Reviews Are Mixed

The game MultiVersus recently relaunched on Steam, attracting more than 114k concurrent players. This resurgence marks a significant milestone for the game, indicating a strong interest among gamers.

According to data from SteamDB, the game’s peak player count reached 114,515, nearly 75% of its all-time high at the original launch. This impressive return comes after the game saw a decline in its player base, leading to a temporary closure of almost a year.

The relaunch, which occurred on May 28, introduced three new playable fighters: The Joker from DC Comics, Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, and Banana Guard from Adventure Time. Additionally, Agent Smith from The Matrix will be added later in the first season.

Despite the excitement surrounding these new characters, the game’s relaunch has received mixed reviews. Some players were pleasantly surprised by the new additions, while others expected them due to previous datamining leaks. Datamining, which plagued the game’s initial release, continues to be a concern.

Overall, while MultiVersus has managed to draw a substantial number of players back, the mixed reviews highlight the ongoing challenges the game faces in maintaining player satisfaction and security.
